Natālija Cudečka-Puriņa is an Associate professor in BA school of Business and Finance. She has almost 20 years’ experience in Sustainability, being involved in industry - development of Latvian waste management system – implementation of infrastructural projects on dumpsite closure and recultivation, construction of sanitary landfills and waste sorting infrastructure. Followed by almost 10 years’ experience in policy planning at Ministry of Environmental protection and Regional Development of Latvia, out of which 5 years as Head of Environmental Quality and Waste Management Division. Natālija was responsible for policy planning, development of national waste management and Circular Economy framework. Later on, back to industry - Natālija has been working in EY, supporting businesses in their transformation to sustainable and circular business models. Simultaneously, since 2013 Natālija has initiated academic career, and since 2021 elected as Associate Professor in BA School of Business and Finance.

In the academic role Natālija has a range of study courses (Circular Economy and eco-design; Circular Economy business models; Green and Sustainable entrepreneurship; Civil, labour and environmental protection), Natālija has also developed monographs and over 28 scientific publications and continues scientific research in the field of sustainability, waste management, Circular Economy. Currently Natālija is involved in a range of scientific research projects (COST Actions, Erasmus + projects, LIFE IP, Latvian Council of Science FLPP, etc.). 

Most notable projects are: Latvian Scientific Council Basic and applied research project “Assessment of resources and processes for implementing circularity and the Green Deal in the tourism system (CirToS)”, LIFE “Waste to Resources IP” Industrial Symbiosis Acceleration programme, COST Action CA22110 - Cooperation, development and cross-border transfer of Industrial Symbiosis among industry and stakeholders (LIAISE), COST Action CA21103 - Implementation of Circular Economy in the Built Environment, COST Action CA21103 -Implementation of Circular Economy in the Built Environment, etc.
